Pat "Punky" Boone

World Net Daily (It should actually be called the Wing Nut Daily Lie) is using Pat Boone, the washed up lounge singer whose claim to fame was making “radio play acceptable” (meaning a lily white singer) cover songs of rock and roll pioneers such as Little Richard, Fats Domino and Lloyd Price, to convince their readers that health care reform is simply Obama’s way to suppress the rich white man.  see Fundamental question: Who’s the boss here? by Pat Boone

I have a very strong feeling that most of WND readers (I use the term READER very loosely) would benefit greatly from the proposed Health Care Reform plan the Multi-Millionaire Boone and Farah are trying their hardest to convince them is the end of freedom as we know it.

There was a link to email Mr. Boone and I couldn’t resist. I know it was a fruitless effort but it made me feel good so I sent the following email to “Preacher” Pat.

Dear Mr Boone;

You state in your Opinion piece, Fundamental question: Who’s the boss here? the following statements as fact.

• p.30 – a government committee will decide what treatments and benefits patients will get, with no appeals process.
• p.42 – the “Health Choices Commissioner” will decide health benefits for patients, who will have no choice. None.
• p.50 – all non-U.S. citizens, illegal or not, will be provided free health care services.
• p.59 – the federal government will have direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer!
• p.65 – taxpayers will subsidize all union retiree and “community organizer” health plans (SEIU, UAW and ACORN).
• p.102 – all eligible for Medicaid will be automatically enrolled; they will have no choice in the matter.
• p.145 – an employer MUST auto-enroll employees into the government-run public plan. No alternatives.
• p.195 – officers and employees of the government health care bureaucracy will have access to all American financial and personal records.
• p.241 – doctors, no matter what their specialty, from brain or heart surgery to podiatry (foot medicine) will all be paid the same. And the AMA has caved in to this!
• p.341 – government has authority to disqualify Medicare Advantage Plans, HMOs, etc.

While giving page numbers you fail to provide a link or even the source of these claims.
For example you state “p.42 – the “Health Choices Commissioner” will decide health benefits for patients, who will have no choice. None”

The actual wording from H.R. 3200  America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 (Introduced in House) concerning this allegation is:

SEC. 143. CONSULTATION AND COORDINATION.

(a) Consultation- In carrying out the Commissioner’s duties under this division, the Commissioner, as appropriate, shall consult with at least with the following:

(1) The National Association of Insurance Commissioners, State attorneys general, and State insurance regulators, including concerning the standards for insured qualified health benefits plans under this title and enforcement of such standards.

(2) Appropriate State agencies, specifically concerning the administration of individual affordability credits under subtitle C of title II and the offering of Exchange-participating health benefits plans, to Medicaid eligible individuals under subtitle A of such title.

(3) Other appropriate Federal agencies.

(4) Indian tribes and tribal organizations.

(5) The National Association of Insurance Commissioners for purposes of using model guidelines established by such association for purposes of subtitles B and D.

(b) Coordination-

(1) IN GENERAL- In carrying out the functions of the Commissioner, including with respect to the enforcement of the provisions of this division, the Commissioner shall work in coordination with existing Federal and State entities to the maximum extent feasible consistent with this division and in a manner that prevents conflicts of interest in duties and ensures effective enforcement.

(2) UNIFORM STANDARDS- The Commissioner, in coordination with such entities, shall seek to achieve uniform standards that adequately protect consumers in a manner that does not unreasonably affect employers and insurers.

This is hardly under the control of a single individual as you suggest. If you believe corporate based decisions go through stronger scrutiny than these which would set forth by law, you sir are as delusional as the founder of World Net Daily!
